Content pillar - Instagram Glossary

A content pillar is one of a small set of recurring themes an account posts about - typically three to five. Pillars keep an account varied enough to stay interesting and narrow enough to stay classifiable, which are the two competing requirements of a growing feed.

Pillars solve the practical problem of what to post without collapsing into randomness. A coach might run four: client results, a common mistake, a behind-the-scenes look at the method, and a direct offer. Every idea slots into one, and the mix stays deliberate rather than accidental.

The ratio matters more than the pillars. Accounts that post offers as one pillar in four sell steadily; accounts that post offers as one in ten build audiences that do not know they sell anything. The fix for low sales is often not better content but a higher proportion of content that mentions the product exists.
